Many entrepreneurs who have been successfully running their businesses for years eventually hit a ceiling. Revenue stops growing the way it used to. Your team isn't moving in the direction you envisioned. Or you notice that you've become the bottleneck yourself, without knowing exactly why.
This is no coincidence. Research repeatedly points in the same direction: the entrepreneur themselves plays a decisive role in whether a business grows or stagnates. Behavior, patterns, and blind spots determine outcomes just as much as market conditions or business structure.
That's precisely what ZEAL Partners and the Center for Entrepreneurship at Vrije Universiteit (with support from The Blue Hour) want to investigate.
Behavior as an explanation for growth
In this study, we examine the behavior of experienced entrepreneurs: what you do, why you do it, and what it delivers for your business. Not as an academic exercise, but because we believe that self-insight is the engine behind genuine business growth.
We focus specifically on entrepreneurs who have already proven their concept but feel that the next step isn't happening. We investigate which behavioral patterns recur, what their relationship is with business performance, and where the real obstacles lie: with the entrepreneur themselves, in the team, or in the environment.
What does participation offer you?
By taking part, you gain insight not only into how your behavior and time allocation compare to other entrepreneurs in similar phases. You also see where the most common growth blockers lie and how others deal with them.
We invite study participants to an interactive workshop where we review the results and insights together. Not a presentation of abstract data, but a concrete translation of what the findings mean for you as an entrepreneur. The workshop dates will be announced later.
The survey takes approximately 15 minutes. A realistic estimate is sufficient where exact figures are requested. All data will be treated strictly confidentially and used exclusively for scientific research.
How you divide your time between professional, leader, and manager roles—and what your ideal is
The extent to which you yourself, your team, or your environment put the brakes on your business growth
Which behavioral patterns are dominant in your entrepreneurial approach
How your business performs on revenue, people, and cash flow compared to the market
Your results are interpreted within a scientific framework from VU.
